Scan to email

How it works

Create an email QR code in three steps

  1. Set the recipient

Enter the email address that should receive the message.

  2. Add subject and body

Pre-write a subject line and message so senders only have to hit send.

  3. Print and collect

Add the code to forms, signs or packaging and let the emails arrive.

Why static email

A pre-written email in a code

Opens the mail app

Scanners get a draft addressed to you, with the subject and text already in place.

Free and instant

No account or setup — generate the code and start sharing it straight away.

Fixed address and text

The recipient, subject and body can't change later and scans aren't tracked, so review them first.

Email QR code FAQ

Can I change the email details after printing?

No. A static email code writes the address, subject and body into the pattern, so any change means a new code. For a contact point you can update, use a dynamic business page instead.

Can I track scans or opens?

No. The code opens the mail app directly with no server in between, so there are no scan stats. Dynamic codes are the option if you need analytics.

Does the email send automatically?

No. It opens a pre-filled draft in the sender's mail app — they still tap send, so they stay in control of the message.

Can I prefill more than one recipient?

You can include CC recipients in the setup, but keep it simple. A single clear recipient scans and sends most reliably.

Which mail app does it use?

Whichever the phone has set as default — Gmail, Apple Mail, Outlook and others all handle the standard mailto format.

A reliable way to build it

  • Use a monitored email address.
  • Prefill only the text that genuinely saves the sender time.
  • Test the result in more than one mail app.

Questions to answer before publishing

  • Will the information change? If it might, choose a dynamic type instead; this static payload cannot be edited after printing.
  • What should the printed instruction say? Describe the result of scanning in a few words rather than using “Scan me”.
  • Does each placement need separate reporting? This static type has no Qrcado analytics.
  • Has the final proof been tested? Check the real size, surface, lighting and mobile destination with more than one phone.
