Safer scanning habits
- Be cautious when a code asks for a password, payment or software download.
- Check the domain before opening a link.
- Don't assume a familiar logo proves that the code is genuine.
- On public signs, look for stickers placed over the original code.
- When the result is plain text, email, SMS or Wi-Fi data, read it before acting.
Test beyond the browser tool
An online preview confirms that a QR image can be decoded under ideal conditions. Production still needs a printed proof — check the final surface, size, contrast, quiet zone, lighting and viewing distance with multiple phones. For a dynamic code, also confirm the redirect and destination after the code is printed.
